How is the OET scored?

Each sub-test is graded on a scale from A (highest) to E (lowest). Candidates receive a separate grade for each sub-test, and their overall performance is determined by the average of these grades.

  • Grading Scale: The OET uses a grading scale from A to E, with A being the highest and E being the lowest. Each sub-test, including Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, is individually graded on this scale..

  • Candidates receive a separate grade for each sub-test they take. The grade reflects their performance in that particular skill area. For example, a candidate may receive an A grade in Listening, a B grade in Reading, a C grade in Writing, and a B grade in Speaking.

  • The overall performance of a candidate is determined by calculating the average of the grades obtained in each sub-test. For instance, if a candidate's individual grades are A, B, C, and B, their overall grade would be calculated as (A + B + C + B) / 4, resulting in an overall grade.
